Cookies

Use of Cookies

Our website moneyand.me uses cookies to provide users with the best experience we can and to help us understand how visitors use our site.

What are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are downloaded to your device (such as your PC or tablet) via your web browser when you visit certain websites. They are used for a variety of purposes, particularly to enhance a user’s experience by remembering certain details, like forms you have completed.

Some cookies are necessary for the full functionality of a website while others are for non-essential purposes, such as to optimise online marketing. Non-essential cookies require consent to be placed on your device. Some cookies expire automatically when you leave a site (session cookies) while others can remain for a set duration afterward unless removed (persistent cookies).

Most mainstream web browsers allow users to block, remove or manage cookies. You can learn more about cookies at www.allaboutcookies.org.

By accepting cookies on this website, you consent to their use.

Why Do We Use Cookies?

The University of Lincoln website uses cookies to optimise users’ experience, improve site performance, add certain features or functions, and provide analytics data to inform improvements. What Cookies Do We Use?

These are some of the main cookies used on our website www.moneyand.me. This is not an exhaustive list and does not include cookies from all partner sites or microsites such as MoneyHelper:

The wordpress_test_cookie cookie is used by WordPress to check if the browser has cookies enabled. It’s a test cookie that is set when you log in to the WordPress dashboard or interface. It simply sets a cookie to test if your browser is set to allow or reject cookies. This helps in ensuring that user login and other functionalities work correctly in accordance with the user’s browser settings.

The wp-settings-time-[UID] cookie is used to customize your view of the admin interface, and possibly also the main site interface, by recording the time at which you set your user settings. It helps in improving the user experience by maintaining settings over time. The number at the end of this cookie’s name is your individual user ID from the WordPress users database table.

The wp-settings-[UID] cookie stores user settings and contains more comprehensive information. Each user has a unique ID, and the cookie stores various user interface settings, like the layout of the dashboard. It’s essential for a personalized user experience in the WordPress admin area.
